On August 14, 2012 Schuff Steel & Schuff HOPSA Engineering celebrated the placement of the last structural beam of the MMG Tower in Costa del Este, Panama. This event represented the conclusion of the structural phase of the project.
In an act with the participation of Morgan & Morgan partners and representation from the manufacturers of the beams, Schuff Steel & Schuff HOPSA Engneering, the assistants had the opportunity of signing the last beam and see how it was placed in the 28th floor of the tower.
“The placing of the prefabricated steel beam is a novelty in our country, and we are proud of the alliance we’ve formed with our strategic partner Schuff Steel to realize this project,” said August Simons, Vice-President of Corporate Sales of Empresas HOPSA.
With an altitude of 125 meters and 29 floors, and a total area of 60,000 square meters, MMG Tower is the highest building with prefabricated beams in Panamá.
“We used beams premade in the United States and others, proudly made in Panama, with the highest quality standards. These pieces are very practical for this type of construction because they fit in perfectly as the project progresses,” said Victor Espinosa, General Manager of Schuff HOPSA Engineering.
Established in 2011, Schuff HOPSA Engineering started as an alliance between Schuff Steel, the biggest manufacturer and installer of prefabricated steel beams in the United States and HOPSA, leading construction business focused on bolted steel structures in Panama. The new business has a manufacturing plant in Nuevo San Juan, Colon to be able to provide in Panama, an manufacturing option of the highest standard in steel structures.
MMG Tower is one of the first ecological building in Panama and the Latin American region and a Corporate Social Responsibility insignia of the Morgan & Morgan Group.
