Ana Cristina Castrellon is an Associate at Morgan & Morgan and works at the Corporate Law Department since 2009. Ms. Castrellon concentrates her practice mainly in real estate transaction, mergers and acquisitions, project development and finance.
She has advised domestic and foreign corporations from different industries on the fulfilment of the legal requirements to operate in the Republic of Panama.
On administrative matters, Ms. Castrellon has successfully filed for legal remedies before several governmental offices such as the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Economic and Finance, the Superintendence of Insurances and Reinsurances, among others.
Prior joining the firm, Ms. Castrellon was an attorney at the Legal Department of CEMEX Panama (2005-2009). During this period, Ms. Castrellon was in charge of obtaining the governmental permits for CEMEX’s new cement line construction, valued in US$200 million.
Ms. Castrellon has also been very active participating in international activities such as The White & Case International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. She represented Panama as a competitor during the 2006 edition, and has been Judge for the International Round for the 2007 and 2013 editions.
Ms. Castrellon is a member of the Rotary Club of Panama and is also committed with pro bono activities at the firm. She regularly participates as volunteer in the Legal Open Houses organized by the firm in low-income communities, and advises NGOs on their legal issues.
Ms. Castrellon completed her studies in Law and Political Science from the Universidad Catolica Santa María La Antigua (Cum Laude, 2006), received her Post-Graduate Degree in Top Management from the Universidad Latina de Panamá (2007), and obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Virginia’s Law School (2009). She also holds a certificate (with distinctions) on Acquisition and Finance of Airplanes from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Ms. Castrellon has recently completed a training program on Aircraft Acquisition and Financing held by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Ms. Castrellon is admitted to practice law in the Republic of Panama.
